In progress, but I think I've figured out skin texture finally. I've been putting it on another layer so that it works with the base canvas instead of destroying it. Top half of face is done, still working on the bottom half.

Drawing hands was always a favorite of mine when i was young, theres so much interesting detail and expression in them. I finally figured out hair here, I was so proud! But then said fuck it when I got to her sweater.

Shadow! Starting to experiment with skin texture here...

Highlight! Still having issues with skin texture, he's too smooth. I was proud of his lips but I gave up when I got to his hair though.

Happy with the depth of field in this one (love a shallow one).

Trying to make sure I've got my tones and contrast right here, what do you think?

First portrait where I added a multiply layer for deep shadow to create depth

My first portrait after a bunch of studies. Overly ambitious, and I ended up doing a mouth study after this one.

The mouth study, I get better with lip texture/expression, but still need to work on teeth.

After three nose studies (a previous weak point) I began to work on full faces. Here is where I learned to work on different layers with different blending modes, you can see the difference in depth from the top right to the bottom left.
